Penzance Wheelers time trials - 2024

For the 2024 season we will be running a mixture of Club and Open Time Trial events.

Here is an outline of how we plan to run them.

Club events - these are more informal events which you can enter on the day of the event.

All of our club events for 2024 will also be ‘Come and Try’ events where you do not need to be a member of a CTT affiliated cycling club (although we hope after trying a few events you will join the Wheelers). These are usually less expensive to enter than an Open event.
’Come and Try’ is an initiative set up by the CTT governing body to encourage newcomers to the sport to have a go without the commitment of joining a club - you will be covered by the organising club’s insurance whilst competing in the event.

Following feedback from club members and participants in our events over the past year - we have decided that our club time trial events will now offer a pre entry system (using the clubs eventbrite page) plus we will also offer on the day entry.

Pre-entry will be £5 per rider and will be the cheapest way to enter our events and it gives us a good idea on the size of the field. On the day entry will be more expensive, £7.50 per rider, and there may be a limit on the field size so we would suggest pre entry if possible. The entry fee will cover the CTT race fees which are £3 per rider and the remainder will go towards the costs of the event HQ and helpers expenses.

We will collate a start sheet from the pre-entry participants (this will be sent out to entrants a couple of days before the event). Riders will still have to sign-on at the event and collect their number at the event HQ.

Entrants who enter on the day will be added to the start sheet in the order that they sign on. We will be able to accept cash or card payments on the day of the event,.

Results will be published shortly after the event.

We will continue to use the Eventbrite web portal for our online entry system (for club events).

It’s easy to use, once you have registered and you can follow Penzance Wheelers profile to see what other events are coming up.

Open time trial events - these are formal events where riders times are officially recorded over an approved and accurately measured course.

These will continue to be run under the CTT rules and regulations and entry will only be via the CTT website - we won’t allow any late entries. Here is a link to our club details on the CTT website.

Entry fees will be as per each event on the CTT website and the rider levy (which is £5 is paid automatically).

The CTT Cycling Time Trials Association is the main governing body that runs time trial events in England, Scotland.& Wales. You will need to register on their website and you will be given a unique ID number - results from Open events that you compete in will be stored against your profile and this will be used when entering events in the future.

CTT have added the option to be classified as a road bike or time trial bike - if you enter then decide to change the bike you are using please make sure the event organiser is aware of this.
Please refer to the CTT website regarding road bikes
