The Penzance Wheelers Club Run meets every Sunday at 9.00 am at Long Rock Memorial Institute. Long Rock is about 2 miles east of Penzance, and the Memorial Institute is the long grey wooden hut next to Trader Grays (see map). The runs are usually around 50 - 65 miles, and a café stop is always included.
At present there are 3 groups. The 1st group is for fitter, experienced cyclists, the 2nd group for experienced cyclists wanting to ride at a steadier pace, and the 3rd group for those finding their feet in cycling and discovering how to ride in a group and the craft of the sport. With each group, the route and café destination are announced before the ride begins. No-one is dropped, and we wait for riders in the event of a puncture or mechanical trouble.
New riders are always welcome on a Wheelers Club Run, as are people from other clubs and cyclists down in the area on holiday. If you are new to cycling, suitable warm and weatherproof clothing, especially in winter, is recommended. Bring your own pump, spare tubes, drink, money and a mobile phone if you have one. In winter, mudguards are a good idea, not just for your own benefit, but principally for riders behind you.
For everyone on a club ride, the wearing of a helmet is obligatory.
